Christmas is a season of giving and sometimes we can go to great lengths to try and find that perfect gift for the one we love. WE spare no expense to get the very best gift that money can buy. So, what might you give Jesus for Christmas? Pastor Brian’s message today focuses on a woman who gave a very extravagant gift to Jesus, and was criticized for it…but not by Jesus! Bring a friend with you for these special services leading up to Christmas.

As the holidays approach, so often does the pressure of a hectic schedule. We fill our schedules with dinners, parties, and shopping, which can lead to one major Yule-tide headache! Do you sometimes get so absorbed in all the holiday hospitality that you leave Jesus out of His own celebration? Pastor Brian’s message today will contrast two sisters and the ways they handled their time with Jesus when He came to their home. Join us this Sunday at 10:45 am to find out the better way to keep Christ in Christmas!

When we think of Christmas we often think of it as a special time for family. But do we consider the enjoyment of the Holy Family — Joseph, Mary, and Jesus? If Christmas truly is ‘all about family’ then shouldn’t the Holy Family be front and centre in all of our celebrations? Pastor Brian will address this subject in more detail in the message this Sunday at our 10:45 am worship service. We will also gather around the Lord’s Table to remember the Lord’s death on the cross for us, His most extravagant gift. We would love to have you join us!

“Remember the poor this Christmas”— December 13, 2015

With social agencies like The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul in full operation during the Christmas season each year, it is a good reminder to be doing now what we should remember to do all year long: give to the poor and needy. Giving to those in need helps to take the focus off of ourselves, forcing us to be less selfish and more “others-centred”. This is the true heart of the Father who gave us His one and only Son, Jesus, to be our Saviour. We will focus on this important area of the Christian life in our 10:45 am worship service this Sunday. Join us as we hear from God in His Word!

“For Jesus, Christmas is about YOU!”— December 20, 2015

I noticed a marquee in our town this week that had a great message. It said, “Do you know what God wants for Christmas this year? Well, look in the mirror!” The angel’s message to the shepherds that first Christmas night was clear, as recorded in Luke 2:1: “For to YOU is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” Come and join us for our service at 10:45 am and let that message hit home to you. In fact, come back again AT 5:00 pm for a potluck supper, followed by a special Christmas program of music and drama. We would LOVE to have you join us!

Life can get pretty hard at times. It throws a lot of stuff at us, and sometimes that stuff knocks us down. Where will you find the strength to carry on? The Book of James in the New Testament begins with a directive to persevere under those times of trial. The early church faced a barrage of persecution, yet the Lord sustained these courageous believers, and He will do the same for us, too. Join us this Sunday at 10:45 am for a time of worship and some solid teaching from God’s Word on this important subject.

When it comes to the milk of the Word of God, go with the full homogenized instead of skim. God wants us to get everything we can from our reading and study of the Scriptures. Pastor Brian will emphasize this vital point in the message this Sunday at our 10:45 am service. Call up a friend and ask them to join you. We will start the service with some excellent pre-service worship music at 10:30 am, so come early and “soak” a little in God’s presence. It will be a great day in God’s house, so plan to be there!

It is no use talking a big game if your actions don’t back up your words. Unfortunately, many Christians never seem to get out of the talk stage and move on to the action stage. The Book of James has much to say about this and Pastor Brian will unpack it in our 10:45 am ... [Read more...]

If there is one area of our lives that gets into the most trouble, it would have to be our mouth. We can do a lot of damage through unkind, hurtful, and accusatory words. The Book of James addresses this subject quite directly, which is how we need to receive it. Pastor Brian will tackle this touchy subject head on this Sunday in the morning message. We would love yo have you join us at our 10:45 am worship service as we hear the Word of God preached, as well as celebrate at the communion table. It will be a wonderful service to come and meet with God and let Him speak to our hearts.

Living according to Christian convictions is a real challenge in our society today. When you want to go on a special vacation, what is the first thing that you do? You plan for it! As Christians, though, we often launch out in our plans without first praying and consulting the Lord. We may have a lot of great ideas and are anxious to get going with them, but shouldn’t we first ask God if that I something that He wants? Pastor Brian will explore this subject in his message this Sunday at our 10:45 am worship service. We would love to have you join us. Come early at 10:30 am for a special pre-service “soaking” time of quiet worship. It will prepare your heart perfectly so that you can enjoy the service to the max!

Our world places a lot of emphasis on material things and tries to send the message that this is where one’s worth in life is. However, the Bible has a very different message, and a stern warning to those who arrogantly think a life of wealth and pleasure without God is the goal. James, the Lord’s brother, does not mince words here. Pastor Brian will help us understand the thrust of this warning and how we can ALL learn from it. Join us this Sunday at 10:45 am for a message from God’s Word, a time of worship, and celebration at the Lord’s Table.

“Hurry Up and Wait!”— March 13, 2016

I have discovered that there is a word we sometimes love to hate: PATIENCE. We live in a culture that is all about convenience, quickness, and reduced waiting times. For sure, there are situations where this is vital, but prayer does not always fit that description. Praying for something and then having to “wait” on God for the answer can be very frustrating. But, is there something that we can learn during the wait time? Pastor Brian explores this subject in his message at the 10:45 am worship service this Sunday. Join us as we see what God has to say about it. Better yet, call a friend and both of you come!

We will have a special service on March 20 at our 10:45 am service. At the close of Pastor Brian’s message an invitation will be given for people to come forward to receive prayer for healing. Pastor Brian and members of the deacons’ board will anoint with oil and pray for the sick. Come and receive prayer and bring someone with you who also needs prayer. We will pray for as long as it takes until everyone who desires prayer receives this ministry.

Well, it is the most important Sunday of the Christian year — Resurrection Sunday! What does the resurrection of Jesus Christ mean to you, anyway? The angels asked the frightened women who came to Christ’s empty tomb why they were looking for the Living One among the dead? Do you do that? Do you seek for true life in this world in places where it cannot be offered? For more on this important subject you are invited to join us this Sunday at 10:45 am as we discover the power of Christ’s resurrection.

So, the powerful and triumphant celebration of Christ’s resurrection is now past and we are left wondering how to proceed from that pinnacle. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the single most important facet of our faith. We should desire to draw closer to God as a result of it. Psalm 84 does a good job of describing the longing of the heart of one who is in love with God. Pastor Brian will develop this theme in greater detail this Sunday at our 10:45 am worship service. Join us!

We live in a world that is constantly changing, and also moving further and further away from the things of God and the Bible. God’s people, the Church, need a refreshing from heaven to make it through these perilous times. Psalm 85 is a prayer plea for exactly that. Pastor Brian will open the Word of God this Sunday at our 10:45 am service and expand on this theme. Grab your Bible and join us! If you don’t have one, we have plenty here that you can use. In fact, Pastor Brian will even give you one for free if you ask him.

If you were being held on death row, awaiting your execution, but still had some time to plead your case — with God — how would you pray? The writer of Psalm 88 prays in such a way! He prays with passion, with desperation, and with no back-up plan. Do you ever face circumstances in your life where this type of praying is called for? Join us this Sunday at our 10:45 am worship service and let’s see what we can find out from God’s Word.
